Establishing Professional Contacts/Expanding Resources

So far this week I have tried to establish contact with 2 agencies outside the US for professional contacts. The first one was with an agency in the Philippines and the second was with an agency in Ireland. I am excited to see if I will receive any responses. I went through the list in the blog resources and chose 2 that stood out to me. I used the email addresses provided and sent emails to the contact person listed. I hope to hear something soon!!

For the second part of my blog assignment, I explored the National Head Start Association. I did this because I have worked for Head Start for many years and although I am an employee, I never spent time exploring our own web site. This is an opportunity for me to learn more about the agency I work for. The site includes many areas including services, research, news & advocacy, and events & conferences to name a few. I had explored much of the site and was impressed with the amount of information given plus what is going on around the US in Head Start. I look forward to learning more. I also added myself to their blog.

  1. Hi Elizabeth, I see we are both waiting to see who responses first. I submitted an email to Romania, Turkey, and Egypt. I'm just excited to learn how international educators work diligently to improve early childhood education. And I agree to choosing an organization that is beneficial to your personal and professional life. Since I mostly work with African American children, I chose to explore the NBCDI. I'm not sure if they have a blog, but it so, I will add myself as well.

  2. Great work Elizabeth! This is a great start! I was most pleased to have been guided by both yourself and Shonda Jones, about the direction I was taking with this assignment. After I read your post I realized I was on the right track. So shout out to both of you! I was very please to see that like myself you reached out to countries that had special ties or meaning to you. Doing this I feel with strengthen the future connections you will make. It is awesome tht you have thrown yourself into the Head Start web page as well. Getting a head start in life is always a nice gift! I hope to learn more from you!

  3. I think we're all excited to see who will respond to our emails. I'm hoping to get information back from Haiti. I also sent an email to someone in Armenia. I see that you chose the National Head Start website. That may be a good one for me to look into. I have worked in an elementary setting of my career and I really didn't know much about Head Start until I started taking classes through Walden and talking to people in our classes. Well, let's keep our fingers crossed at see what happens with our contacts this week. :-)
